A 50s-Themed Breakfast the Bird Family Is Still Talking About
Birds of a Feather kicked off one of our mornings in Pigeon Forge with breakfast at Sunliner Diner, and let me just say—we’re still talking about it. This ended up being our top breakfast pick out of all the places we tried on this trip.

From the moment we walked in, the theming completely won us over. The classic 1950s vibe is strong here, right down to the décor, the music, and even the menus—which are designed like old newspapers. Such a fun and thoughtful detail that really adds to the nostalgic feel.
Atmosphere & Theming 🎶📰
The staff was dressed in poodle skirts, sweaters, and collared shirts, while classic 1950s music played throughout our visit. They even have car-themed tables—and Little Brother was definitely jealous that we didn’t arrive early enough to snag one!

They also have a milkshake bar, which made us immediately start talking about coming back for lunch sometime. Believe it or not, we even saw people ordering milkshakes with breakfast—and honestly, I respect that level of commitment.
What We Ordered 🍽️
I asked our server for recommendations and went with his first suggestion: the Meat Lovers Omelette. It was very good, but definitely meaty. In hindsight, it could have used some veggies—but Papa Bird reminded me that I asked a young man for his recommendation, so that one’s on me! 😄
Hashbrowns: Just okay. I’d probably ask for a different side next time.
Biscuit: Absolutely amazing—fluffy, buttery, and easily one of the best parts of the meal.
Overall: Very hearty. I wasn’t hungry again until mid-afternoon, so I can definitely see why it’s a popular choice.

Papa Bird ordered the Western Omelette, which I personally liked better thanks to the added veggies—and Big Brother agreed!

The Kids’ Meals 🐦🐦🐦
Big Brother: Ordered the Berry Stack (waffles) and lov
ed them. They came with honey instead of syrup, and while syrup didn’t arrive with the plate initially, it was brought out immediately once we asked—great service.
Sister: Got the Kids Pancake Breakfast and was thrilled. She rated it a 9 out of 10, proudly pointing out that the pancake was “as big as her head.” While chatting with the manager, she mentioned the adult pancakes are as big as the breakfast plates—and you get three of them!

Little Brother: Ordered the Kids French Toast and gave it an 8 out of 8 (because his rating system must always be unique).

Other server-recommended dishes that caught our attention for future visits included:
Avocado Benedict
The Big Daddy-O Breakfast
Steak & Eggs

Crowd & Timing ⏰
We arrived around 8:30 AM, and the diner was still fairly empty. By the time we left, it was about half full and continuing to fill up quickly. The gift shop was empty when we arrived, but completely full by the time the kids went up to explore—so it definitely gets busy as the morning goes on.
Final Thoughts 🧡
We highly recommend Sunliner Diner. Between the incredible theming, friendly and enthusiastic staff, and filling, flavorful food, this spot easily earned its place as our favorite breakfast of the trip.
We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in the Pigeon Forge area—and next time, we might just stop in for lunch so we can finally try those milkshakes and fries.
